WonderHill Artist Interview with Erin

Meet Erin, one of our amazing resident artists here at WonderHill…

How old were you when you discovered your artistic talent? How did you get started with a career in art?

I’ve been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil basically! I developed a strong interest in animation art when I was young. Before that, even though I enjoyed making art, I didn’t know that I wanted to make a career out of it. I went to school at SJSU for my BFA in Animation and Illustration.  I’ve been doing artwork for casual games since 2007.

If your could be an animal, what would you be?

A fruit bat, so that I could fly and eat fruit all day, or an otter— otters seem to have a lot of fun swimming and playing!

What is your favorite subject to draw?

I’ve always loved drawing cute animals! And now I get to do it for a living!

Besides computer-based imagery, what other mediums do you like to use?

I love drawing in my sketchbook with pencil and inks or coloring with Tria markers. I’m also a potter and I paint animals on the pieces I make.

What is your favorite WonderHill item you’ve created to date?

Tickle-Me-Ty! He was so cute and fun to make!

What is your favorite type of item to create for our WonderHill games?

Baby animals! I love experimenting with animation too.

Please describe a typical day at WonderHill?

We have our art meeting in the mornings, and then I grab some coffee or tea and start sketching and researching for my items for the week. Then I’ll go into Flash and start creating the items from my reference and sketches.
